The Cerf pitcher is a re-edition of an old model from the MANUFACTURE DE DIGOIN, created in 1875. This pitcher, formerly also called "barbotine", is a magnificent example of the creativity deployed for these everyday objects in the past.
Made of enamelled stoneware, its matte and shiny appearance magnifies the stag motif and gives it a very contemporary style. It will bring a touch of chic to serve water or orangeades and will certainly be able to be converted into a vase for garden flowers. Its capacity is 1 Litre.
For a long time considered as more noble than terracotta, stoneware was particularly fashionable at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. The legendary stoneware paste, made entirely in the workshops of the Manufacture, is made from natural mineral materials originating in France (Burgundy, Auvergne, Charente, Ile-de-France). The firing of the pieces, carried out at high temperature (1250°C) contributes to the qualities of waterproofness, solidity and inalterability of the glazed pieces, which is ideal for storing food without transmitting odours.
The MANUFACTURE DE DIGOIN - Stoneware & Pottery is originally a family business founded in 1875, on the banks of the Canal du Centre in Burgundy. For almost 150 years, its craftsmen have been making stoneware culinary and horticultural pottery, with the ambition of keeping alive a legendary know-how.
Each piece is unique because they are all moulded and glazed by hand.
The MANUFACTURE OF DIGOIN is a LIVING HERITAGE COMPANY.
