HISTOIRES FRANCAISES FANNY LAUGIER CERAMISTE ATELIERS D'ART DE FRANCE

STORY OF FANNY LAUGIER

Fanny LAUGIER is a ceramist, member of the very closed circle of the Ateliers d'Art de France.

She is first and foremost a young woman with incredible talent and know-how. Fanny is one of the first craftswomen we selected for HISTOIRES FRANCAISES.

We fell in love with her creations. 100% French creations of course and created with a true concern for sustainability.

A very personal and beautiful work, witness of an exceptional know-how according to sustainable principles, that's why we wanted to work with her. Fanny trusted us and we thank her. Today we would like to introduce her to you.

HER CAREER PATH

After studying biology and her CAPES, Fanny taught for a few years. At the same time, she takes courses at the Beaux-Arts. Then, she realized: " When I was a teacher, I felt that a part of myself was not expressing itself. I needed to create and work with my hands". Then She thought of a change for a manual and artistic profession. Fanny chose the ceramics she loved as a child and followed further training at the DUPERRE school.

HER ART

About her work she explains : "I work with porcelain, a soft earth with a very fine grain. I like its whiteness and translucency. I mainly work with biscuit porcelain (raw porcelain, without glaze) to enhance the whiteness and minerality of this material". About her creative gesture she explains : « I make prints with different materials (cardboard, textile, nets...) to bring effects of material, texture that will catch the light ".

HER INSPIRATIONS

Fanny is very sensitive to the work of great post-war painters of the lyrical abstraction movement such as Hans HARTUNG or Bram VAN VELDE.

She likes to recharge her batteries on the Atlantic coast where she comes from, in Rochefort sur Mer in particular.

Fanny is a great admirer of Charlotte PERRIAND. She is a "free and visionary woman whose creative and innovative force I admire and who has succeeded in imposing herself in a men's world".

You can discover her work in our DECOR/ Vases & Cups section.
