FANNY LAUGIER
Ceramics at the rank of Art....
Fanny Laugier is the story of a passionate person. Indeed a few years ago this biologist decided to take her life in hand, with two hands, to make a profession out of it, to work the earth and thus deliver us incredibly pure, delicate and beautiful products.
Trained in handcrafted ceramics at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts Appliqués Duperré, she moved to her workshop in Poitier in 2008 to share her passion with us.
And passion there is, because in Fanny Laugier's hands, porcelain becomes once again this white, mineral and sensual earth, so contemporary, on which it makes its mark.
Pushing back the limits of this material, the ceramist designs real sculptures of great finesse.
The ceramist works with the plate. She spreads the paste with a roller, cuts it, folds it, and assembles it, but the most astonishing is the effects of the material. She likes to leave impressions of corrugated cardboard, net and textile, playing on the trompe l'oeil, ensuring a gap between the visual perception and the reality of the object. You will be captivated by these vases resulting from very complex folds, crossings and cut-outs. Finally, everything is fired on the spot in the large oven, at high temperature.
Gastronomic restaurants have also called upon Fanny to sublimate their tables and dishes, just like the MOMA (Museum Of Modern Art in NYC) shop, which has been seduced in its turn and has not been mistaken in referencing her. Hats off to the artist!
